Grahan Dosh Puja

"Grahan Dosh Puja"

The Grahan Dosh Puja, also known as the Rahu-Ketu Shanti Puja, is a sacred ritual performed to mitigate the adverse effects of the positioning of Rahu and Ketu in an individual's birth chart. In Vedic astrology, the alignment of these celestial bodies, particularly during eclipses (grahans), is believed to create Grahan Dosha or doshas, which can lead to various challenges and obstacles in life.

During the Grahan Dosh Puja, experienced priests or pandits conduct prayers, rituals, and offerings to appease Rahu and Ketu and seek their blessings for the individual. The Puja aims to pacify the malefic influences of these planets and alleviate the negative effects associated with Grahan Dosha.

The Puja may include the following components:

  1. Purification Rituals: The Puja begins with purification rituals to cleanse the space and participants of negative energies. This may involve the sprinkling of holy water, the burning of sacred herbs or incense, and the recitation of purifying mantras.

  2. Invocation of Deities: Priests invoke the blessings of specific deities associated with planetary influences, such as Lord Shiva for Rahu and Goddess Lakshmi for Ketu. Offerings such as flowers, fruits, and sweets are made to the deities as a gesture of reverence and devotion.

  3. Mantra Chanting: Powerful mantras and prayers are recited to invoke divine protection and appease Rahu and Ketu. These mantras are believed to have the ability to neutralize the malefic effects of planetary afflictions and restore balance and harmony in the individual's life.

  4. Havan or Fire Ritual: A sacred fire (havan) may be lit as part of the Puja, with offerings of ghee, grains, and herbs made into the fire while chanting specific mantras. The smoke from the fire is believed to carry prayers and offerings to the heavens, seeking divine intervention and blessings.

  5. Blessings and Prasad: At the conclusion of the Puja, participants receive blessings from the priests and offerings of prasad (blessed food) as a symbol of divine grace and protection.

The Grahan Dosh Puja is performed with utmost sincerity, devotion, and reverence, with the intention of providing relief and healing to those affected by Grahan Dosha. It is believed to be an effective remedy for mitigating the negative effects of planetary afflictions and restoring peace, harmony, and well-being in the lives of individuals.
